It denotes a Faith which, so to speak, takes a man out of himself, and puts him into Christ, hence the phrase “in Christ” being constantly used regarding Believers (Rom. 8:1). It denotes not simply a belief that carries an intellectual assent, even as many do have but are not saved, but one wherein the Believer cleaves to his Saviour with all his heart.
